The Hunter area has a great number of waterfalls of various sizes. The most notable waterfall, Kaaterskill Falls Haines Falls NY 12436, (518) 589-5058. At 260 feet, this two-tiered fall is the highest in New York State.

Bastion Falls, commonly known as "horseshoe falls" is located on Rt. 23A, about a mile below Haines Falls.

Newman's Ledge and the Catskill Mountain House Site -Overlook fifty miles of the Hudson Valley and into New England.

Blenheim - Gilboa Power Project Lower and Upper Reservoirs

Canadarago Lake, Otsego Lake, Susquehanna River, and Goodyear Lake -This 1,900-acre lake averages 33 feet deep and has a maximum depth of 44 feet.

Catskill Scenic Trail  -The Catskill Scenic Trail lies on the former railbed of the Ulster and Delaware Railroad, running from Grand Gorge through Stamford, Hobart and South Kortright, ending in Bloomville in Schoharie County. This 19 mile trail offers a hard-packed surface that is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross country skiing.

Delaware County: Bearpen Mountain - Poor Dry Brook Ridge. Hiking - 4.8 miles

Glimmerglass State Park  -Casual hikes explore lake cove, pond, woodland, and field habitats. Special Attractions: historic estate, bird watching, spring and summer wildflowers, fall foliage.  Hiking - 5.7 miles

Keuka Lake Outlet Trail  -Biking from Seneca Lake to Keuka Lake is steeped in history. Mountain Biking - 6.8 miles

Otsego County: Lutheranville State Forest -Hiking - 0.5 miles

Vertigo at Plattekill -Lift service up Plattekill Mountain.  Mountain Biking - 40 miles

A and AA Trails -Snowshoeing - 1.5 miles

Alder Lake -The toughest part of this trip is getting to the trailhead.  Rutted, country back roads that lead to the gate near secluded Alder Lake.  Hiking - 1.8 miles

Beaver Kill -Excellent fishery. Home water of American dry-fly fishing. Best fished spring and fall.  Fly-Fishing

Catharine Valley Trail  -Mountain Biking - 6 miles

Diamond Notch Falls - Hiking - 2.9 miles

Dry Brook  - Great for kids. Hiking - 4.2 miles

Esopus Creek: Route 28 to Phoenicia  -Located in the heart of New York’s Catskill Mountains. Moderate rapids and good scenery.  Whitewater Paddling - 3 miles

Esopus River -A challenging stream, with lots of trout and a glowing future. Heavy stocking and heavy discharges from the Shandaken Tunnel, which carries water from the Schoharie into the Esopus.  Fly-Fishing

Hunter Mountain  -the second-highest point in the Catskill Mountains.  Hiking - 7.5 miles

Lakeshore Park / Seneca Lake State Park Trail  -Named after the Seneca Indian Nation, one of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy. Mountain Biking - 9 miles.

Little Pond and Touchmenot -Mountain Fishing, hiking - 3.4 miles

Lower Schoharie Creek -Called the devil’s piss pot in the old days because of its tendency to flood, trickles out of the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project Lower Reservoir.  Fishing

Rochester Hollow Trail  -Elevations in the area from 1,100 to almost 4,200 feet.  Snowshoeing - 5.6 miles

Sampson State Park - Lake Trail  -Family biking paradise. A network of abandoned roads provide hours of nooks and crannies to explore.  Mountain Biking - 7.8 miles

Schoharie County: Huntersfield Mountain Hiking - 4.4 miles

Upper East Branch Delaware River, Pepacton Reservoir, and Lower East Branch Delaware River  -The naturally-flowing stretch of the Upper East Branch Delaware River springs out of the hills a couple of miles west of Grand Gorge and runs southwest for about 20 miles to feed Pepacton Reservoir. Fishing

Upper Schoharie Creek, Schoharie Reservoir, and Batavia Kill   -Upper Schoharie Creek slices through some of the prettiest scenery in the Catskills. 1,159-acre Schoharie Reservoir. Fishing

Huckleberry Trail 800-355-2287 Tannersville. 2.3 miles of gravel-packed trail following bed of old Huckleberry Line Railroad. Curves around Rip Van Winkle Lake and Gooseberry Creek.
